In the event of the Government becoming desirous of determining the engagement of the person engaged at any time during the currency of the same it shall be at liberty, giving him Three months notice (signed by any authorized Officer) determinable on any day, or on the Government paying him one month's Salary and in either case he shall be provided with a free passage second class by steamer to England including railway fare third class to place of abode. The Government shall also provide him with a similar free passage if by reason of ill-health not caused by his own impropriety of conduct he shall under the certificate of a Medical Officer appointed for that purpose by the Government be discharged from or compelled to give up his engagement with the Government and provided he shall be desirous of returning to England but if he shall resign his appointment from other cause he shall refund to the Government or to the Crown Agents for the Colonies the amount paid for his passage to the Colony (including railway fare) and shall have no claim to a return passage. The return passage if required must be claimed within one calendar month.
